The tunic looks back on a long history – it was already worn by men and women in Greece. At that time it consisted of two fabric rights that were pinned to the shoulder with brooches as the front and back.
Usually it was made of white wool, later sleeves were put on and central gatherings were made from belts. It was in this form that it experienced the Middle Ages, when the state of the wearer could be recognized by the abundance of decorations.

To this day, not much has changed in the basic tunic. The box-shaped, hip-less cut loosely surrounds the body. The length ranges from knee length to hip. Often 3/4 long or short sleeves are appropriate, sometimes only a cut shoulder is visible.
The neckline is usually quite generous as you slip into the robe from below and there are no zippers or button strips. Optionally round, square or provided with a vertical slit, the cutout is the only eye-catcher of the otherwise rather simple upper textile. Therefore it is often decorated with embroidery, glittering applications or borders as well as the lower hem and the cuffs.
Longer models can be worn as a dress, shorter ones can be sporty with jeans or romantically elegant with skirts. If you love sculpting the body, wear a folk belt or simple string.
