The material cord – often called – has a velvety surface that is created by cross-linked longitudinal ribs. These are different in height and width depending on the fabric. One distinguishes
- the light, fine “baby cord” with very narrow and flat ribs
- “Fine cord” (which is a bit coarser in structure) and
- “Breitcord”, which has a solid material quality due to the very wide and high ribs.
Sometimes new cable products with a certain wear effect appear on heavily used parts such as knees and elbows – this type of “used” look is known as “antique cord”.
